Dr. David Kantra is a Clinical Psychologist specializing in individual, couples, and family psychotherapy, psychological testing, and business consultation.  A graduate of the University of Denver and the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Kantra maintains a private practice in Fairhope, AL, with his wife of over 20 years, Augusta Kantra, MS, LPC. Dr. Kantra is also a Registered Yoga Trainer at the 200 hour level (RYT-200), and is in training for 500 hour certification (E-RYT 500).

Prior to opening the doors of his private practice in 1985, Dr. Kantra served as a Court Psychologist, as well as a consultant for a shelter for abused women and children, and served on an advisory board for a school specializing in the education of children with special educational needs.  He was recognized by the Alabama State Senate and the Alabama Department of Rehabilatation Services for his part in the development of a training video for professionals who work with special needs students.

Dr. Kantra has presented at National and regional conferences as well as to general audiences on topics such as parenting strategies, ADD, marital enrichment, stress management, professional burnout, and business relations.  He also writes newspaper articles on a variety of self-help topics  (see "PsychDigest" articles in the "Links" area of this website).

Dr. Kantra is a practical, interactive, solution-focused therapist. His treatment approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients resolve current problems and long-standing, maladaptive patterns. He incorporates a blend of conventional and alternatives approaches, drawing upon a variety of styles and techniques to incorporate what will be most helpful for each client. With sensitivity and compassion, he works with each client to help them build on their strengths to identify and achieve life goals.
